Looks like the courts will be coming for the summer of 2027. Hurray!

In the interim we have received the go ahead to purchase some equipment to play Pickleball this summer. BIPS will buy portable nets, balls, and a few other necessities to get out on the courts. This will happen on the existing BICS Tennis court with temporary PB lines.

Beginning in August we plan to set up drop in play times. These sessions will be run and hosted by the Bowen Island Pickleball Society:

  • Sundays 12:00 – 2:00 pm
  • Mondays 4:00 – 7:00 pm
  • Wednesdays 5:30 – 7:00 pm

Memberships are now available

Memberships in the Bowen Island Pickleball Society are now available. They are at a reduced rate, as we are part way through the season. Click on the link to register and support Pickleball on Bowen, in BC and in Canada: BIPS Memberships

Good question, what do you get for your membership? Normally $75, now $45.

You get hosted drop in play, with organized round robin play, balls to play with and a paddle if need be. We will host skills and drills, clinics for learning, coaching sessions, learn to play, an organized tournament, opportunities for kids play, volunteering, hosted evening socials at the pub, and lastly access to extra insurance from Pickleball Canada for tournaments (Pickleball Canada & BIPS).

Members will be added to a BIPS WhatsApp group, where they will hear about events or cancellations.

Hoodies

Good news all around, and great news about the Hoodies: they come in just about any colour you can imagine. We already have many people interested, but now that we know that so many colours are available, we would like to have a few more people interested. The more people, the lower the price.

Send an email to joanne@cocoawest.com and in the subject matter say yes to the hoodie, size and preferred colour. (Joanne is modelling a unisex size large in the photo.) Our hoodies will have our BIPS logo on the back as seen at the top of this page, and the BIPS letters on the front.

Sign up, become a member, then pop over with your paddle. If you don’t have a paddle we should have a spare. On that note, we are asking for donations of extra paddles that you are not using. Please drop them off at Cocoa West Chocolatier at your convenience. Share the love and spread the joy of pickleball. Thank you.
